The Cap
2019
A children’s book about migration, borders and belonging.
A dark-haired boy must leave his village for a country where fair-haired people are the majority. Mocked and excluded for being different, he wonders whether hiding his hair under a cap might finally get him invited into the other children’s games. Years later, hearing his own son mock a new classmate, he tells the boy his own story.
First published in Turkish as Şapka (Doğan Egmont, 2019).
