Shadows

An illustrated novella — a tribute to Istanbul and its writers and poets, with artwork by Aykut Aydoğdu.

On an Istanbul evening, as darkness engulfs the city, the shadows of the great figures of its history and literature — Fatih Sultan Mehmed, Atatürk, Nâzım Hikmet, Yahya Kemal, Yaşar Kemal — speak through the streets “like a final sung melody, like a final written poem,” while the city awaits the word that will breathe life into it anew.
